The good news for HyFlyers Golf Club is that Cameron Tringale found his form in Houston after a somewhat frustrating first half of the season. The catch? The rest of his teammates now must follow suit.

The team finished tied for eighth at LIV Golf Houston in brutal, hot conditions at the Golf Club of Houston and now stands 11th in the season-long standings. It marked back-to-back T8 finishes for the team, which finished third just three events ago in Adelaide.

Tringale was the only member to finish under par each day. He got progressively better in each round, shooting 2-under 70 on Friday and then 3-under 69 in Round 2. He capped it with a 4-under 68 to post a tie for ninth, which was his best finish of 2024.

Captain Phil Mickelson and Brendan Steele did their best to match Tringale and were well within range before a shot here and a shot there went astray. Mickelson was 4 under through two rounds and played his best on Saturday when he fired a 3-under 69. But he took a step back on Sunday with a 2-over 74.

Steele had a similar week. Like Mickelson, he was 4 under through the first two rounds but couldn’t get much going on Sunday and shot 74. Steele’s confidence is still high, however, having won the individual title just three events ago at LIV Golf Adelaide.

Andy Ogletree has been on the cusp of breaking out and wasn’t far off in Houston. He didn’t have counting scores during the first two days, but on Sunday when all four scores counted, he shot 2-under 70 which was second only to Tringale’s 68.

The team will look to put Houston in the past and focus on LIV Golf Nashville in two weeks as the early portion of the second half of the season continues.
