SUGAR GROVE, Ill. – It wasn’t the finish HyFlyers Golf Club was looking for, but the week did provide some positives as the team looks ahead.
Led on Sunday by the long-hitting Brendan Steele, HyFlyers GC finished tied with Smash Golf Club for 10th on the team leaderboard at LIV Golf Chicago with a three-day total of 11 under.
Steele shot a 3-under 68 on Sunday after rounds of 69 and 68 the previous two days to finish T11 on the individual leaderboard. Steele’s presence hasn’t been just steady as of late, he has been putting the team on his shoulders for a late season run. He finished eighth in driving distance (306.8 yards) for the week and tied for 19th in greens in regulation (72.22%).
James Piot added an even-par 71, which included an eagle on the par-5 10th, and teammate Cameron Tringale provided the final counting score, a 2-over 73. Captain Phil Mickelson couldn’t quite muster the magic from Saturday when he fired an impressive 3-under 68 and ended the week with a 4-over 75.
HyFlyers GC entered Chicago with back-to-back top-five finishes on team leaderboards and now turns its attention to LIV Golf Jeddah in mid-October.
